Bulldogs Under-14s keep alive Nationals hopes but 16s lose on road

Bulldogs’ Under-14s made it three wins in a row and kept alive their faint hopes of making the end-of-season Nationals at Ice Sheffield with a 9-2 win over Telford.

The hosts were 3-0 to the good after the first period thanks to a double from Danny Harrison and a Daragh Spawforth strike.

Captain Spawforth made it 4-0 on the power play at 20.52 before Telford got on the board through Tyler Stanton 20 seconds later.

Spawforth then completed his hat-trick at 23.19 before Frank O’Sullivan opened his account just over a minute later.

That was how it stayed until early in the third when Telford gave themselves a lifeline through Stanton’s second of the game to make it 6-2.

But the Bulldogs wrestled back momentum through Harrison’s hat-trick effort at 35.34, the centre adding a fourth three minutes later before O’Sullivan wrapped up the scoring with his second at 38.40.

Under-16s suffer road loss on road in Coventry

BULLDOGS Under-16s had a hard time of it at Coventry on Sunday, although they started well by matching their hosts in the first period, tied 2-2 after strikes from Mackenzie Barker and Tom Mardell.

But five unanswered goals in the second ultimately decided the outcome of the clash, with four more coming in the third.

Tyler Somerton and Oliver Dixon led the way for the hosts at the Skydome with a hat-trick apiece.

Under-10s making progress in Manchester

The Under-10s headed over to Manchester on Sunday, facing off against rivals from Widnes, Manchester and Telford in a series of cross-ice games.

All the youngsters showed off the skills from their weekly practice sessions, with Kyle Bower picking up the ‘player of the day’ award.
