BRADFORD BULLDOGS’ Ball Hockey Under-10s produced a string of heroic performances as they reached the final of the National Winter Qualifiers.

The youngsters won two and drew one of their four group games at the Bench Buddy Arena, their only defeat en route to the final coming at the hands of Stingrays Blue, the eventual winners.

Ball Hockey manager, Aimee Clarke, said: “It was a great effort from all of our players, who put in some terrific performances.

“Stingrays Blue were a tough team to play against in the final, but our players pushed them hard. It was also great to hear parents from other teams saying how well our players showed great sportsmanship throughout.”

The first game for the Bulldogs produced a 3-3 draw against Nottingham Huskies Black. Finley Mardell and Stevie Abdy picked up a goal and an assist apiece, with Evan Bulmer also getting on the scoresheet and Denis Sprogis bagging an assist.

A 4-0 win against Stingrays Red followed, Bulmer leading the way with two goals, with Abdy and Mardell adding to their tally for the tournament. George Clark picked up two assists, with Mardell and Conor Donaghey - in his first-ever game - also picking up helpers

A 5-0 loss to Stingrays Blue came next before the Bulldogs closed out their group schedule with a 3-1 win against Nottingham Huskies Red, Bulmer bagging another goal double, with Abdy adding a goal and an assist. Sprogis registered another assist.

The final brought a second encounter against Stingrays Blue, but they again proved too strong, running out 6-1 winners with Clarke assisting Mardell’s solitary goal for the Bulldogs.
