Bulldogs Under-13s excel at Ball Hockey Spring Qualifers

HAPPY DAYS: Bradford Bulldogs’ Under-13 Ball Hockey team impressed at the Spring Qualifiers in Rotherham.

BRADFORD BULLDOGS Under-13s enjoyed a positive Spring Qualifiers tournament when they came in second at Rotherham’s Bench Buddy Arena.

Two wins from four games saw the Bulldogs impress throughout the day, one which got off to the perfect start when they beat Stingrays 3-2.

Jonas Mtethwa, Timur Sprogis and Joshuah Windass (assisted by Harry Clark) got on the scoresheet for the Bulldogs, with Mtethwa finding the net again in the 3-1 defeat that followed against Nottingham Huskies Black.

Despite the setback, Bradford bounced back in style, thanks chiefly to Mtethwa’s four-goal haul. Evan Bulmer (2), Sprogis, Windass and Clark also found the net with assists being shared between Stevie Abdy, Bulmer (2) and Windass.

The day ended with a 4-2 defeat at the hands of a team combining the short-benched Hull Havoc and Leeds Rams, hot-shot Mtethwa finding the net yet again, with Thomas Andrews also getting on the scoresheet.

Team manager, Aimee Clarke said: “This was another phenomenal qualifier for the 13s, coming second overall on goal difference.

“We had two newcomers Danny Harkot and Alex Bullock who proved they will fit in nicely with the current team and they made a solid difference to the defence position.

“Jack Clarke continues to prove netminding is his niche with an impressive 93 per cent save rate!

“I cannot speak highly enough of this season's 13s - they work together as a team every game and encourage each other when times are tough. I am looking forward to what is going to be an interesting finals in the summer.”
