Junior Review: Under-12s take on local rivals Leeds

Players from Leeds and Bradford line-up at centre ice before their game last weekend.

THERE was just the one game involving our junior teams last weekend, with our Under-12s making the shirt trip down the M62 to take on Leeds Knights Juniors.

It was a tough day for the Bulldogs’ youngsters, but they showed great determination throughout the entire match and came out better for the experience.

Before the game, the teams also lined up around centre ice to pay tribute to Adam Johnson.

Once the action started, the visitors found themselves trailing 4-1 at the first intermission after the Knights went ahead through Finlay Jackson (2), Calden Mellor and Oban Donaldson before Thomas Andrews struck with a reply for the Bulldogs with just 15 seconds of the period remaining.

Leeds then closes out the game with further strikes from Donaldson, Max Phillips (2), Billy Lingwood and Griffin Earley for a 9-1 win.

Samson Collins picked up the MVP award for the young pups, while Jonas Mthethwa won the 'Top Digger' hard hat!
